Hi followers
Just to update on the projects on the go at the moment....
The croquet exercise. We made the mallets, and after a few failures we finally made four wooden balls.
We now need to make the gates we have the metal bars and the welder ,and we'll get cracking with them next week!
The in front of the fire place planter for Pentre Mawr is nearly finished (photos soon)
Three members have had a go at turning eggs on the lathe (they are to hide in the garden at Pentre Mawr for the kids to find at Easter egg hunt)
Some look like phesants eggs some are more like golf balls!!!!!!!but the experience is fantastic...(photos soon)

GARDENERS' WORLD Headline News - After years of research,a North Wales amateur gardener has perfeted a new strain of brassica which he has called the 'Lacewing', due to its uncanny resemblance to the wings of that beautiful beneficial pest control that is the scourge of the greenhouse aphid, the lacewing. Another research project underway this year is the KARAOKE CARROT. So called due to the accidental discovery that certain varieties of carrot emit a shrill sound when pulled from the ground, very similar to that of the Mandrake root, as seen in some of the Harry Potter series of film It is unfortunte, that the sound can only be heard through specilist ultrasonic headphones. As each variety emits it own unique and different sound pitch, it is hoped that when research is completed that a Karaoke Carrot concert can be performed. Future developments will be notified here. Wood-Carving Group starting up - read on -
Abergele Men's Shed will be starting a wood-carving group on Thursday 24th August at the Shed at the rear of Itaca between 10am and 12noon on a weekly basis. If you already do carving, why not pop long and show us what you can do, bring an example or two. Please bring your own wood-carving gouges with you as we only have a limited number as of yet.
This is not a general meeting, but specifically for wood carving, although enyone is welcome to come along. There will not be any use of machinery, so it will be peaceful apart from the usual banter and the sound of the kettle boiling.
The photos here illustrate some examples of what we hope to achieve and much more, limited only by the imagination. Come along and don't be shy.

Abergele Men's Shed would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Mr David Baddeley, formerly of Colwyn Bay and currently of Stone in the West Midlands for his generous donation of large woodworking power tools to the Abergl Men's Shed, via the Colwyn Bay Men's Shed. Inter-group co-opertion is a great thing to have and experience. Good luck with the narrow boat refurbishmeent, David.
