The Dusty Shed

So what is the Shed? Based around the Men In Sheds principle, an initiative that is well established in Australia and Ireland, the “Shed” is basically somewhere for generally men to go to undertake practical activities such as wood work, metal work, electronics or anything else that those attending wish to do. It is only limited by peoples imagination (one shed in France is restoring a WW2 tank!). Although primarily aimed at older men as it has been shown that this section of society are particularly susceptible to depression etc as they move from employment to retirement, and particularly for whatever reason they find themselves on their own, it is open to all. This project aims to get us out of the house/flat, meeting others and making friends, learning new skills, utilising existing ones, sharing these skills and making a positive contribution to the community and others.

If you like what we are doing and think it is worthwhile, one way of helping us at no cost to you is to sign up to Give as you Live with The Dusty Shed as your nominated charity. By signing up to Give as you Live each time you shop online with over 4000 different shops will generate a donation from that shop to ourselves, at no cost to you!

Please have a look and support us in our aim to move to a bigger building allowing us to increase the number of people we reach and the breadth, for example running sessions for women.

Many thanks.

The Shed will be open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week so please come and say hello and see what we are about.
We are working hard to get a much bigger building so we can do much more, have more people attend and increase the scope so there are sessions for other members of the community, for example women, younger people etc. if you would like to help us in any way to make this happen from fund raising, helping with Facebook, raising awareness etc please get in touch.
Particularly keen to speak to anyone willing to share the skills and experience they have.
