The Dusty Shed

So what is the Shed? Based around the Men In Sheds principle, an initiative that is well established in Australia and Ireland, the “Shed” is basically somewhere for generally men to go to undertake practical activities such as wood work, metal work, electronics or anything else that those attending wish to do. It is only limited by peoples imagination (one shed in France is restoring a WW2 tank!). Although primarily aimed at older men as it has been shown that this section of society are particularly susceptible to depression etc as they move from employment to retirement, and particularly for whatever reason they find themselves on their own, it is open to all. This project aims to get us out of the house/flat, meeting others and making friends, learning new skills, utilising existing ones, sharing these skills and making a positive contribution to the community and others.

We are currently looking for donations of brightly coloured wood paint, in particular the colours of a rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, lilac, violet. So if you have some tins sitting around with any amount small or large in them that you do not want anymore we would be very pleased to take them off your hands! Please get in touch!

We are now offering our Christmas trees in 3 sizes: small 21 inches tall by 12 inches wide at £10, medium 35 inches tall by 24 inches wide at £15 and large 54 inches tall by 42 inches wide at £25. Apologies for not posting anything for a while - will try and do better! We are still here and come the New Year Hope to be open for more days for more people. Still thrashing the details out and as soon as can confirm what we are doing will post here.
This hasn't stopped us cracking on making things including our great Christmas Trees below selling for just £25! Standing 4 feet tall by 3 feet 6 inches wide at widest point all made from up cycled wood.

Due to last minute hospital appointments the Shed will not be open today, Monday. Open as usual Tuesday and Wednesday.
