It was nice to see Neil and Tommy back this week after they both had health problems. The shed wasn't the same without you guys.

I am trying to get our members to post there own things on this site and thought I would get it started with my story and what men shed means to me.
I was born with spina bifida and only given hours to live, then I wouldn't make it past my teens. Just shows what the doctors knew then as I was 52 a couple of weeks ago. Living with Spina Bifida isn't easy with being in constant pain and all the other rubbish that goes with it. ( the list is too long to mention it all). I was diagnosed with being highly depressed about 20 years ago but just seemed to work through it my kids were all young at that time so always something to do. Up until 4 years ago I was a powerboat instructor for sea cadets and was really enjoying it until my spina bifida got worse and ended up in a wheelchair for my own safety.
Then last year I had a full mental breakdown, wouldn't leave the house as my mind decided it was too scary out there. After the community mental health team had helped me I slowly started to go out again, and one day noticed an advert for Mens Shed. I gave the number a ring and Sheree came out later that day and put me totally at ease and explained about Mens Shed. The shed is a fantastic place I was made very welcome by the other members and haven't looked back. I told the group this story a few weeks ago (which was the first time I had ever been fully open) and the support has been amazing. I had a couple of members admit they suffered from depression as well and I had no idea.To anyone else whos feeling low and done nothing go see your GP now, no longer do men have to hide there feelings, seek help too many bottle things up as I did. Living with mental health issues it is like wearing a mask to hide your true feelings, but slowly I am able to start letting mine go through the help of the group and Mens Shed in General.
Myself and my family owe a debt of gratitude for the group giving them back the Husband/Dad they know.
I hope the organisation continues to grow and go from strength to strength.

Andy

After today's meeting the FB page will be continuing, we have someone who has volunteered to take it on to lower my workload. There will probably be a slight name change but I will post the details in a few weeks. Thanks to Simon Poole for the support and advice this morning.
Thank you for your continued support.

On behalf of all the group I would like to thank Elluson Cefnogd, a supporting charity in Llangefni, for the donation of Β£300 which will go towards equipment once our premises have arrived.

Sadly I will be closing this page due to lack of interest from the members of the llangefni group. As hard as I've tried everyone photos are taken i try to get them forwarded to me and nothing happens, or I wait so long that when photos arrive I've forgotten what's happening. It takes more than one person to run a group page without any support. Thank you for supporting us over the last few months but unless things change quickly I won't be able to stop the closure process (30 days)

Thanks to my wife Yvonne Molyneux for making my men's shed birthday cake. Also thanks to the group for the support after I told them how mental health effects me, what a great bunch of guys.πŸ˜€
