Is the Welsh Government doing enough to address mental health inequalities?
At Men’s Sheds Cymru we have been talking with representatives of The Health and Social Care Committee which was set up by the Senedd. They have been looking at mental health inequalities in Wales. Their inquiry is looking at which groups of people are more likely to experience mental health inequalities and the barriers they face.
You may also have seen that some Men’s Sheds took part in related focus groups through the Senedd’s Citizen Engagement Team earlier this year.
Are you interested in being part of an online advisory group to inform the inquiry? If so, please see below.
The group will comprise 10 – 15 people from across Wales and it would be great if some of these were ‘shedders’ with lived experience of mental health equalities.
You will need to register your interest by completing a survey. Survey link

Summary
Is the Welsh Government doing enough to address mental health inequalities?
The Health and Social Care Committee is looking at mental health inequalities in Wales. Their inquiry is looking at which groups of people are more likely to experience mental health inequalities and the barriers they face.
It will also look at whether the Welsh Government’s policies do enough to recognise and address current needs.
An online advisory group will be set up to assist the Committee so that lived experience is at the heart of the inquiry.
The 10-15-strong group will include people with lived experience of mental health inequalities which will draw from the diverse communities of Wales.
They will be asked to consider evidence heard by the Committee at certain times during the inquiry and provide feedback.
You can register your interest to take part in the advisory group here:

A yw Llywodraeth Cymru yn gwneud digon i fynd i’r afael ag anghydraddoldebau iechyd meddwl?
Mae’r Pwyllgor Iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol yn edrych ar anghydraddoldebau iechyd meddwl yng Nghymru. Mae ei ymchwiliad yn edrych ar ba grwpiau o bobl sydd fwyaf tebygol o brofi anghydraddoldebau iechyd meddwl a’r rhwystrau y maent yn eu hwynebu.
Bydd hefyd yn ystyried a yw polisïau Llywodraeth Cymru yn gwneud digon i gydnabod yr anghenion cyfredol a mynd i’r afael â’r anghenion hynny.
Bydd grŵp cynghori ar-lein yn cael ei sefydlu i gynorthwyo’r Pwyllgor fel bod profiad byw wrth wraidd yr ymchwiliad.
Bydd y grŵp o 10-15 yn cynnwys pobl sydd â phrofiad byw o anghydraddoldebau iechyd meddwl ac yn dod o amrywiaeth o gymunedau Cymru.
Gofynnir iddynt ystyried tystiolaeth a glywir gan y Pwyllgor ar adegau penodol yn ystod yr ymchwiliad a rhoi adborth.
Gallwch gofrestru eich diddordeb i gymryd rhan yn y grŵp cynghori yma:
